Semiotics of the Unseen: Omission in Graphic Novel Storytelling is an exegetical research project that explores themes of identity, belonging, and resistance, with a focus on semiotics and omissions in graphic novel storytelling.
The project engages with existing research from different scholarly perspectives and fields, including semiology, comics studies, sociology, cultural studies, anthropology, feminist and post-colonial studies.
These disciplines have provided me with distinct perspectives on the explored themes and concepts, enriching my critical analysis and understanding of how omission can be used semiotically as it evolves through both the writing and drawing of my exegesis and the accompanying work of my graphic novel 'REDRAWN.'
